University of Wrocław - Foreign Languages Centre

The incoming students are entitled to one language course per semester.

Only the students who speak Polish can sign up for a course at the A1 I° (beginner) level because Polish is the language of instruction. The students do not take a placement test.

Students can only continue learning the language they have studied before.

If you would like to attend one of the following foreign language courses:

  • English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian

you need to take a placement test/level test/ which will be held on:

  • FRIDAY 6th March 2020 at 4 pm
  • (Please arrive 15 minutes earlier)
  • Venue: ul. Uniwersytecka 7-10, building D, Room 1D

The result of the placement test and group assignments will be placed on the Foreign Languages Centre website.

Students must join the group they have chosen in the week starting on 9th March 2020.

The students are requested to read the rules on the following sites:


  1. Students are expected to continue learning the language they have studied before.
  2. All students are required to take a placement test. The date and place of the test is provided at the organisational meeting of the International Office and the website of the Foreign Languages Centre (FLC).
  3. Placement test results and contact details for the Coordinators of language sections can be found at Incoming Students.
  4. International students join Polish students in their groups.
  5. Students should find a group at the level they tested for and contact the teacher in order to sign up for the course.
  6. In beginner groups working knowledge of the Polish language is obligatory.
  7. Incoming students are subject to the same rules and regulations as their Polish peers, namely:
    • participation is obligatory – 5 absences throughout a semester are allowed;
    • all students are required to do their coursework in order to obtain credits.
  8. 4 ECTS points are awarded for a successfully completed semester of the foreign language course.

Coordinators of the language sections


  • 4 ECTS are awarded for one sixty-hour course
  • FLC organizes courses at levels from A1 to B2 employing a more detailed stratification into A2 I, A2 II, B1, B2 I, B2 II (and optional C1 I), each of these sublevels constituting a semester (sixty 45-minute lessons) of instruction.
  • Only the students who speak Polish can sign up for a course at the A1 (beginner ) level as Polish is the language of instruction. Students do not take a placement test to join the beginner classes.
  • We provide courses in general language with elements of faculty-specific specialised terminology, especially at higher levels.
  • In order to join a language course all students take a placement test to determine their language level.
